Whether this will be your child’s first-ever dental appointment or just their first visit to our office, we want you to feel prepared for what to expect. Harlandale Kids Dental is a kid-centric dental practice that focuses on proving exceptional dental care for kids in a fun, energetic environment. We want your first visit to our San Antonio office to be stress-free and engaging for you and your child, and the beginning of a long-lasting relationship.
To start the visit, we always need to take care of the basics. We have new patient forms conveniently located online that you can fill out before your visit so you can focus on being present for your child. We will also collect billing, insurance and financial information to complete your child’s file.
Kids do not have a natural fear of dental care. Adults who have dental anxiety usually had poor experiences or were influenced by others to fear the dentist. Kids are sometimes hesitant when encountering a new event or meeting new people. During your first visit, our top priority is to help your child feel at ease. Our dental team is incredible at making quick connections with kids to allow them to relax and interact with them during their visit.
Your Child’s First Exam
The extent of the first exam depends on your child’s age and dental development. If it is your child’s very first visit to the dentist, they may only have one or two teeth to inspect. It is recommended that children have their first dental visit by age one.
The first visit is vital for our team to connect with your child and build their trust. We want parents to be a part of the process, but we also ask for parents to allow our team to interact with their child directly so we can build a relationship. Depending on the child’s age, we may take x-rays, perform teeth cleaning and complete a thorough exam. After the checkup, your child’s dentist will discuss treatments and go over home oral care with you and your child.
At Harlandale Kids Dental, we want to make a great first impression on you and your child during the first visit to our office in San Antonio. If there is anything we can do to make you and your child more comfortable, please let us know. We look forward to meeting you and your child and providing the best possible care for that beautiful smile.
